Dubai's modern, high-performance metro awaits you at DXB airport.

Dubai International Airport Metro Transfer Guide

The Dubai Metro, managed by the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority), is a modern, fast and air-conditioned means of transport, efficiently linking the city's main areas. The network comprises two main lines: the Red Line and the Green Line, which pass through Dubai's strategic districts and key residential areas respectively. Each train has cars reserved for women and children to ensure a comfortable journey for all passengers.

The metro stations are fully equipped, offering practical services such as automatic ticket machines, stores and air-conditioned waiting areas. The metro operates automatically, without a driver, and offers a panoramic view of the city through its large windows.

DXB International Airport is directly connected to the Dubai Metro's Red Line, providing quick access to the city center and other major points of interest. However, passengers traveling with large amounts of luggage are advised to use cab services or airport shuttles, as space on the metro is limited. The Dubai Metro remains one of the most practical and economical means of getting around this dynamic metropolis.

Metro lines from Dubai airport

Metro stations are located close to the DXB airport terminals, offering direct and convenient access to downtown Dubai. By following the signs from the baggage reclaim area, you'll easily find the entrances to the metro stations near Terminals 1 and 3, which are connected to the Dubai Metro's Red Line. Each terminal serves specific metro stations:

Dubai International Airport Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is connected to the «Airport Terminal 1» metro station on the red line. This station enables passengers to quickly reach key areas such as Deira, Bur Dubai, Downtown and Dubai Marina.

Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport

Terminal 3, mainly dedicated to Emirates, has its own metro station, «Airport Terminal 3,» also on the red line. This station offers direct access to Dubai's main attractions and business centers.

Our tips

Tip 1: For overnight arrivals, the metro runs until midnight from Sunday to Wednesday, and later on Thursdays and Fridays. Plan your journey according to the metro timetable to avoid long waits.

Tip 2: If you have large items of luggage, use the luggage carts available in the terminals, as space in the metro trains is limited.

The Dubai Metro remains one of the most efficient means of transport to reach the city center from DXB airport, offering speed, comfort and economy.

FAQ

Is there a Metro service available in Dubai?

Dubai boasts a modern, well-developed metro network linking the city's main areas. With two main lines, the Red Line and the Green Line, the metro covers the most important residential, commercial and tourist areas. Each station is equipped with essential services, including ATMs, shops and air-conditioned passenger areas.

The Dubai Metro is fully automated and driverless, offering a fast and safe travel experience. Cars reserved for women and children are available for added comfort and safety.

However, due to the extent of the network and the many possible connections, it can seem complex to use for visitors unfamiliar with the city. Good route planning is recommended to take full advantage of this efficient means of transport.

How do you pay for the metro in Dubai?

In Dubai, it's impossible to buy a metro ticket directly on the spot. Before using the metro, you'll need a contactless Nol card, available at authorized stations and points of sale. This card must be loaded with sufficient credit to cover your journeys.

To access the metro, simply swipe your Nol card at the automatic kiosks located at station entrances, which validates your passage. This method ensures fast, smooth boarding and avoids queues at ticket offices.
